The moment I’d been waiting for all year had finally arrived. The sky was clear, the desert air was warm but not scorching, and my beautiful VW convertible begged to be set free. So, with a grin that probably stretched from Palm Springs to Joshua Tree, I dropped the top, slid on my sunglasses, and hit the road.
The wind tangled through my hair, the sun kissed my skin, and for the first time in months, I felt alive in that way only a perfect drive can make you think. The desert stretched out, golden and endless, as if welcoming me back to the road I love. I wasn’t speeding—no need for that. The thrill wasn’t in the speed; it was in the freedom.
I let the music blast, my thoughts drift, and just cruised, soaking in every second. A little piece of me felt like a road warrior—maybe not Mad Max exactly, but indeed Desert Fox material.
And the best part? Tomorrow, I get to do it all over again.
