Under the leadership of President Mirjana Van Blaricom, the International Press Academy's 29th Satellite Awards, canceled initially due to the devastating fires, finally took place in the festive ballroom at the SLS Hotel. The glittering guests enjoyed a lavish reception, including Jaroslav Olša Jr., Consul General of the Czech Republic in Los Angeles. Nominees were selected from domestic and international submissions across 35 categories: 23 in Motion Picture and 12 in Television. The nominations were derived from screenings at film festivals worldwide (i.e., BAFTA, Cannes, Sundance, Telluride, Venice, Berlin, Tribeca, and TIFF) and screeners or screening links sent to journalists.
